I have an undeniable love for pasta. But growing up in an Italian family, what choice did I really have?
You’ll see several different pasta dishes across the Savoury collection of recipes. The thing I love most about pasta is its dual nature of simplicity and versatility.
The taste is more or less consistent across all types of pasta — linguine, penne, pappardelle, rotini, rigatoni. But the options you have with pasta are endless. From the type of sauce you use to any vegetables or meat you add, the flavourful dishes are boundless.
In this case, rigatoni bolognese is easily one of my favourite meals. Tomato sauce with a ground beef base, stirred in and between the cooked rigatoni will undoubtedly be a crowd-pleaser.
A quick 30-minute meal that will hit all your taste buds. What’s better than that?

Cook time | 20 mins.
Serves | 2-4 people
INGREDIENTS
- 1/2 box of rigatoni
- 1 lb of ground beef
- 1 cup of tomato sauce, homemade or store-bought
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese or mozzarella
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tbsp crushed red pepper
- 1 tbsp cayenne pepper (for extra spice)
INSTRUCTIONS
- Boil a pot of water.
- In a large pan, cook the ground beef until it’s brown. Add salt, pepper and red crushed pepper (and cayenne pepper for extra spice) to the beef.
- Add the rigatoni to the boiled water. Cook pasta for 8 minutes if you prefer your pasta al dente. If you prefer your pasta softer, cook for 10-12 minutes or until it’s to your liking.
- Add the tomato sauce to the pan with the cooked beef. You can add more red crushed pepper and cayenne pepper to the pan.
- When the rigatoni is cooked to your liking, strain the pasta and add it to the pan with beef and sauce. Mix it all together to ensure the sauce covers the entirety of the pasta.
- Shred the parmesan or mozzarella and sprinkle it on each pasta plate. Enjoy with a fine glass of red wine!
