I’ve always wanted to try to make my own donuts.
So, when I finally bought a donut baking pan, I couldn’t resist making these tempting, cinnamon-flavoured treats.
I only have one donut baking pan, so I cooked just over a dozen in two batches. But still, since each batch only takes 10 minutes to bake, this recipe was a quick prep and bake.
If you’re looking for a fun dessert to share with friends, family, kids or yourself, these soft pillows of goodness are sure to satisfy your sweet tooth in any season.

- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 1 1/4 cups milk

- 2 tsp vanilla extract
For the topping:
- 8 tbsp unsalted butter (1 stick)
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spray your donut pans with anti-stick spray.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour sugar sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, melted butter and vanilla extract. Stir the wet mixture into the dry ingredients until well combined.
- Spoon the batter into the baking pans to fill each one about three-quarters of the way up.
- Bake for 10 minutes or until a toothpick or fork comes out clean.
- Let cool for 5 minutes, then tap out the donuts from the baking pan (or lift them out gently with a fork onto a cooling rack).
- When you’re ready for the topping, heat up a small pan and melt the 1 stick of butter. In a small bowl, mix together the 1/3 cup sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon to create a combined mixture.
- Dunk the top of each donut lightly in the heated butter, then dunk the top in the sugar/cinnamon mixture. It should stick well.
- Enjoy while still warm!
